Christiane Salts
Teacher of the Year 2007-08 A teacher enriches the lives of their students. Teacher of the year Christiane Salts has given inspiring and meaningful lessons to her students for thirty-six years. For the past twenty-seven years she has worked in the Norwalk-La Mirada School District.
She graduated with a Master Degree from Loyola University and started teaching. Her teaching experience is wide and varied. She served as counselor, as bi-lingual teacher in Berlin Germany, a Title 1 Program Coordinator in Montclair, served on both state and district Text Book adoption committees and as a lecturer and presenter for teacher development workshops. She taught in 2nd thru 7th grades. One of her most memorable experiences was teaching for one year at UCLA with Madelyn Hunter. Ms. Salts has earned many honors and received grants during her career.
Christiane is a member of Buena Park Rotary Club, where she recently received the Rotary Family and Community Service Award. This is her second time to be selected Teacher of the Year at Dulles Elementary School. Ms. Salts is a Lifetime Adult Girl Scout member, a community volunteer, a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow and a Graduate of the Chautauqua Literary & Scientific Circle. Over the years, Christiane has supervised and mentored several student teachers from a variety of universities. She is a leader in the care ministry of her church. Her family includes husband Dennis and daughters Carrie and Tracy. The Salts family are supporters of the Centralia Arts Foundation, the Huntington Library and the Buena Park Library. Christinae and her family model good behavior and civic responsibility.
