PDG James D. Young Honored
We are honored to present Dr. James D. Young our Lifetime Achievement Award
for his exemplary service to both Rotary International and Cal State Fullerton University
Dr. James D. “Jim” Young Professor Emeritus at CSUF
Professor Young holds B.S., M.A., and PhD. Degrees. He founded the Department of Theatre, later becoming the Department of Theatre and Dance in 1960, and has witnessed its growth into a nationally acclaimed program. He continued teaching part-time after being granted emeritus status in 1986. He co-founded and co-chaired the campus-wide “It’s Our University” faculty/staff/emeriti campaign, created to raise much-needed funds for CSUF programs, scholarships and departments. By his efforts, Jim has secured contributions for the university and generated millions of dollars in gifts for the Arts Program. He was the single most instrumental person in fundraising for the new performing arts center. Jim has been quoted as saying “Volunteering and service is an important part of what the meaning of life is.” By his deeds, he has exuded those words.
PDG Jim Young Rotary District 5320
Past District Governor Jim Young is a Local author, educator, actor and Major Donor to Rotary International Foundation. He started the highly successful annual Rotary Club High School Speech Contest in District 5320. Jim is a Past President and a member of Fullerton Rotary Club. Jim served as District Governor in 1985-86. He is the featured performer in a Video DVD entitled “Paul Harris, the Founder of Rotary”. The colorful presentation traces the life of Rotary founder Paul Harris, and tells how the international club was established in Chicago in1905. Over the years, Jim has performed the part of Paul Harris for audiences throughout the United States and around the world. Jim’s wife Dottie is his biggest fan. Jim and Dottie Young are great role models for the Rotary motto “Service-above-Self.”…………………..Buena Park Rotary planned the event for PDG Young
