On Wednesday, January 5th, Buena Park Rotary held its annual Pizza Awards Party for high school students that participate in community service by being members of the Interact Club. This year, seven students active with the Interact Club at Buena Park High School were given special honors. The event was held in Barbara Crampton’s Culinary Arts classroom. Certificates were given in honor of their service to Buena Park High and the community. In attendance were Rotary Past District Governor Lane Calvert, Principal Jim Coombs, Assistant Principal Shari Brekenfeld, City Council Member Dr. Elizabeth Swift, Library Director Patti Hanley, and Library Teen Program Coordinator Phyllis Nisley. Rotarians attending were: Woo Lim, Dennis Salts, Baron Night, and Christiane Salts.
Interact Club school advisor, Barbara Crampton, was honored with an award and given flowers by Dr. Elizabeth Swift. Interact advisors and Rotarians Dennis and Christiane Salts were presented with a thank you card for their support of the Interact Club by Sothy Tang, Interact Club President. Rotarian Dr. Elizabeth Swift gave a talk about a historic quilt which she has made for her office at the City Hall, as she was recently elected to the City Council.
During the event, additional awards were given to culinary students for their participation in the Silverado Days Chili Cook-off last year.
