Rally to Free North Korean Refugees and Orphans in China in LA on Sept 22, 2011

The Rally and Prayer Vigil is part of an ongoing effort to secure humane treatment for people who have escaped from North Korea in to China. There is special concern for the estimated 20,000 North Korean orphans. These children are not being cared for in accordance with United Nations Convention of 1951 and International Law.

Buena Park Rotarian Sam Kim is a dedicated who coordinated this rally and one in Washington, D.C. in July of this year. It is hoped that the US Congress will pass legislation to help these orphans be adopted. This will relieve the suffering of these innocent orphans.

The event was peaceful and very inspirational, having a combination of prayers, singing and short speeches with lots of posters and pictures. The location was directly in front of the Chinese Consulate in Los Angeles.
