‘Cordelia Knott – Pioneering Business Woman’
– Creator of the meal that launched Knott’s Berry Farm –
The book is a tribute to a hard-working and ambitious woman who was very supportive of her husband, Walter Knott, founder of Knott’s Berry Farm.Together, they made life, the farm and the small berry stand “work” and turned it into an amazing business.
The Buena Park Rotary Club, which Walter Knott was a member of, still meets at Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Restaurant each Wednesday at Noon.
One reason Mrs Salts wanted to write about Cordelia Knott is there were several books about Walter Knott, but none about Cordelia Knott. She was a good business woman in her kitchen and the person behind Walter Knott in support of him.”

About the author attended Santa Monica College, and Loyola Marymount University where she obtained a degree in English Literature, and became a teacher for 37 years, teaching mostly second and third grades.
“I always wanted to be a writer and always enjoyed writing,” Salts said. “When I was in school, I enjoyed researching and writing reports and basically, that’s what a biography book is.” Salts said that it has been interesting getting back into history – “trying to preserve the past for the future.”

The author speaks at Libraries, Schools, and Civic Groups sharing the Knotts Story.

Christiane Salts and her husband Dennis are both active in Rotary International and in the Community.

Books are available at Knott’s Berry Farm, Teachers Supply and on line at:
