Virginia was the only female Facilities Engineer Manager on the B2 Stealth Bomber Program at Northrop Grumman. She advanced in the company in the Property Management organization and finally closed out her career as the lead Material Auditor.
Two of her particularly special gifts are working with kids and helping others. She was a church Youth Director for six years and maintains a close relationship with most of the kids who are now young adults. Over the years she has participated in several CROP walks for the hungry, and held two Walking -for-Hope events benefiting the homeless children of OC.
She has organized and facilitated church concerts to raise money for Giving Children Hope. She was the primary planner and facilitator for the fund raising Giving Children Hope Gala over the past four years. She is currently the Vice President of the CHOC Guild and was instrumental in organizing the 50th Anniversary for the CHOC Guild. Her salon has held Cut-a-thons for the Buena Park High School Football Team, CHOC Guild and Giving Children Hope, as well as supporting food and toy drives.
Virginia regularly volunteers at Giving Children Hope, Relay for Life, the Buena Park Nursing home and YWCA Prom Project. She is currently working to help a local Buena Park family who has fallen on hard times and held a Cut-a-thon for the Southern California Hospice Center on March 4th of this year.
She is currently serving her second term as President of the Buena Park Women’s Club. She served three years on the Board of Directors for Giving Children Hope, is a member of the Rotary Club of Buena Park and is Chair-elect for the Buena Park Chamber of Commerce.
After retiring from Northrop Grumman in January 2011, she and her husband purchased Bella Dia Salon and Day Spa in Buena Park. In 2011, she won the Business Leader of the Year Award in Buena Park. When asked about what she likes the most about the salon business, she will tell you it’s the ability to work with people and help others.
