Carlos Franco Honored at City Hall June 12, 2012

The award was presented by Mayor Pro-tem Elizabeth Swift. Carlos received a
$1,250 scholarship, he is a senior at CSUF majoring in Communications.

His activities included being active in sports, Drama Club and Interact Service Club. He applied for the Rotary Youth Leadership Award. He was selected to attend this Leadership Camp. He became Club President of Buena Park High Interact Service Club in 2006.

Carlos is a great communicator – he has the ability to bridge both cultural and age differences.
In Rotary we have called upon him to assist in the community at many events. His enthusiasm is contagious: people follow his lead. He has studied foreign languages beyond English and Spanish so he can talk to people with different backgrounds: French and Korean are two examples.

Carlos is the first person in his family to attend college. His major at Cal-State Fullerton is Communications where he is a senior. His talent, compassion and leadership ability has enabled him to present and lead workshops at CSUF for at-risk students. He is skilled in writing and presenting multi-media presentations.

Carlos believes in giving back to the community. This year Carlos received the Distinguished New Generations Award from Buena Park Rotary. Among his accomplishments were: District 5320 Interact Asst. Governor, District Rotaract Governor, Youth Advisor at Multi-District Symposium, Mentor at YMCA, leader of Campus tours for potential students of CSUF.
