Buena Park Rotary Club Transition Dinner

On Saturday, July 7th, Buena Park Rotary members and friends attended the annual club transition dinner. The event was held at Knott’s Resort Hotel. Outgoing Club President Steve Chen was honored for his year of service in the community. Incoming President Shailesh Shah was given his Presidents Pin.
Past District 5320 Governor Grant Engle and Assistant Governor Dennis Salts participated in the evening’s presentations. New member Edwin Lucas was inducted by PDG Grant Engle. Anniversary certificates were awarded to Chris Norby and Mike Mahoney.
During the evening, Snoopy paid a visit and was a real hit with those in attendance. Snoopy was given a Buena Park Ghost Town Club Banner. The club was founded at Knott’s Ghost Town 52 years ago, making it the second oldest service club in the area. The Buena Park Women’s Club is the oldest.
Steve Chen is an International Banker who speaks five languages. Steve is both a trustee on the chamber of commerce and his church. Steve is also a member of the Noon Lions. In Rotary this coming year, Steve is an Assistant District Governor over four clubs. Steve is a doting father and grandfather. Steve is always on the go doing service in our community. During his year as club president, he led the club very well.
Shailesh Shah is an International Businessma. He is president of Sohm Inc., a Buena Park company, who does business consulting and Web hosting. His company has offices in several countries around the world. Shailesh recently participated in the Rotary International Convention in Salt Lake City. He is the happy father of a son who is now six years old. Shailesh likes to travel. As Club President, Shailesh plans to continue the extensive community service projects of Buena Park Rotary. He would also like do some International projects in Africa or India. Recently, Shailesh could be seen selling fireworks at the Rotary Fireworks booth. Shailesh is a hands-on leader.
Buena Park Rotary meets each Wednesday at Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner restaurant at noon. Guests are welcome. On August 1st, the Rotarians will be hosting a city-wide luncheon with all local service clubs. The meeting is a cooperative effort among all the clubs. The goal is to help local schools, both public and private, to replenish their emergency preparedness supplies. For more information, contact Dennis at (714) 994-1351.

During the program Edwin Lucas became the newest Rotary Member. Edwin received his Pin and Certificates from PDG Grant Engle………………………………………Steve Chen received a Plaque and Pins from Dr. George West and Shailesh Shah………………..President Shah gave a speech laying out his plans for the year……….After dessert which was Mrs. Knotts Carrot cake,Rotary stories were shared by all.
