Santa Come to Buena Park Early

The Annual Shopping Spree Dec 12th 2009

The Annual Shopping Spree for less fortunate children was held Saturday at the Buena Park Downtown Mall. The project is a a city-wide event where each of the city’s service clubs contribute. Each service organization takes a rotational turn at chairing the program. This year Buena Park Rotarian Maha Rayan was the chair for the event. Adult volunteers were from the Buena Park Noon Lions, Rotary International, and Soroptomists International. Helping with youth volunteer registration were Buena Park Chamber of Commerce Trustees and Rotary members Steve Chen and Dennis Salts. Rotarian Woo Lim was on hand to take photos and Rotarian Baron Night was a Volunteer Shopper for the children. Youth volunteers were organized by the Rotarians, with a total of 68 volunteers from five high schools. Each child being given a shopping spree received new shoes from Pay Less shoes, $130 in clothes from Sears and a bag of goodies from Santa. Children being served this year were 150.

A big thank you goes to our Rotary Interactors who helped with shopping and filling gift bags for needy families. The High School Volunteers came from Buena Park High, Savanna High, Villa Park High, Sunny Hills High and John F. Kennedy High.
