Buena Park Rotary Honors outgoing 2009-10 President Maha Rayan and Incoming 2010-11 Club President Christiane Salts.

On Sunday, July 11th, at the Knott’s Resort Hotel, Rotarians gathered for the annual Club Transition Dinner. In attendance were Rotarians, family and friends. Attendees included two Past Rotary District Governors: Lane Calvert and his wife Connie and Bill Peloquin and his wife Wilma.

Buena Park Rotary was chartered 55 years ago and has been continuously active in the community every since. They meet weekly in Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant on Wednesdays at noon. Guests are welcome.

The Transition or change in leadership happens each year in July. Our outgoing President Maha Rayan is a Branch Manager and VP for Union Bank. She is active in the local community. Maha lives with her husband Mohammad and two teenage daughters.

Our incoming President Christiane Salts is the author of the Biography “Cordelia Knott Pioneering Business Woman.” Christiane is a retired schoolteacher and local business owner. She lives with her husband Dennis and has two adult daughters. Both Christiane and Dennis are active in the community and have earned the Cliff Dochterman International Scouting Award.

The transition ceremony included Maha passing her President’s pin to Christiane and Past AG Dennis Salts presenting Maha with her Past President’s pin. Club Foundation Chair Shailesh Shah & Club Treasurer Dr. George West presented Maha with her plaque in honor of her year as club president.

The evening ended with Rotarian’s sharing short Rotary moments. This invoked fond memories for all in attendance.

We honor Maha’s service as President and welcome our new leader Christiane and wish her all the best during her year.
