2012.04 03 Free my people Korean Rally in LA
Rally to Free North Korean Refugees and Orphans in China in LA again this year. In addition, rallies were held in: Seoul Korea, Washington DC, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Houston, Cambodia, India, Japan, Laos, Thailand, Philippines, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Peru, Australia, Ghana, New Zealand, Samoa, Tanzania, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Netherlands, Czech Republic, London, Edinburgh, Milano, Ottawa,
Toronto, and Vancouver.
The Rally and Prayer Vigil is part of an on-going effort to secure humane treatment for people who have escaped from North Korea into China. There is special concern for the estimated 20,000 North Korean orphans. These children are not being cared for in accordance with the United Nations Convention of 1951 and International Law.
Buena Park Humanitarian and Rotarian Sam Kim coordinated these events and led the Prayer Vigil in LA on April 10th and ones in Washington, D.C. in July over the past few years. It is hoped that the United Nations, the US Congress, and other nations will help these refugees. This will relieve the suffering of the innocent orphans, and their families.
The event was peaceful and very inspirational, having a combination of prayers, singing and short speeches with lots of posters and pictures. The location was directly in front of the Chinese Consulate in Los Angeles.
